Meet Fynn Anders

Baby BOY arrived Sunday, March 3rd at 6:29pm! He weighed in at 7 lbs, 2 oz, and was 20 1/4 inches long. His labor was eerily similar to Mia's - water broke overnight (against all odds, considering there's only about a 15% chance that the membranes will rupture at all - and it happened with both of my babies!), on pitocin most of the day to get things started, epidural, quick dilation, quick pushing, and viola - another baby.

We named him Fynn Anders. Fynn was our boy name from when we were pregnant with Mia and it remained a front-runner with this pregnancy. Anders is short for Anderson, which is David's mom's maiden name - and it allowed us to name him after David's grandpa Leonard Anderson - another grandparent that is extremely important to both of us. (Mia's middle name, Evyn, is short for Evelyn, my grandma.)

Poor guy got put in big sister's pink teddy bear outfit to head home - in the middle of a blizzard!
All of the grandparents were able to make it to the hospital to meet him the night he was born, and my brother Stephen and his girlfriend Lori came by, too. My other brother Daniel and his fiance' Kendra came up to visit us on our first day at home. Since then, cousin Taylor and my friend, Katie, have all stopped by to meet the little man.

Mia loves her little brother, but she's still not sure what to think about him taking up so much of mommy's time. She likes to pat his head (we're constantly reminding her to be gentle!), hold him, and give him Piglet (either hers to smell, or a new one that has already been declared his). We're all adjusting to life as a family of four - and David and I are re-learning how to function on less sleep! Yesterday, I was even able to revise a manuscript and get it re-submitted, and then heard that another manuscript had been accepted - so two new papers soon to be out! David is slowly transitioning back to work, and my mom is scheduled to come up to help out a couple of times in the next two weeks. I can't believe how quickly our lives have changed to include this new little person - can't wait to see the little man that he becomes!
